This multimedia concert tells the fascinating story of Matteo Ricci (1552-1610), the brilliant and tenacious Jesuit priest who led a mission to China during a period when the nation was entirely closed to the foreigners.  Ricci, who mastered Mandarin Chinese using ancient “memory palace” techniques, made such extraordinary efforts to understand and contribute to Chinese culture that he can be considered the architect of modern Chinese–Western relations.

This project is supported by a special donation by Monica Armour and is presented in partnership with the Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation.
